Lampshade LOVE

I wanted a change in our family room lighting…
a little lighter feeling (no pun intended!)

so I took this old lampshade
cut off the old dusty polyester material covering (ewww)
lampshade

to the bare metal frame.

I was tempted to leave it as is here

I like the simple, clean lines of it.

But…
wanted to create a bit more shade and
not have the bulb shining quite so bright

so I made this

Here’s how I made it:

I took some pretty cream colored twine/string

knotted it to the bottom of the frame….

wound it up to the top of the frame and looped it around the top again and then back down to the bottom of the frame this same process again and again top to bottom bottom to top all the time keeping the twine taut.

I knotted it off a few times to keep the tension even across the frame and started a new section all over again…
knotting it on the bottom frame,
up to the top,
loop,
back down,
loop,
back up,
loop,
back down

again and again and again

and

again…

it took awhile but I’m adoring the end result.

Ohhhh, I love this. I wanna try it but make the string a tighter string so that ya can't see the bulb. Thanks for sharing such a great idea : )

This is fun - I really like bare lampshades, but you're right about the bulb being too bright. :) Hugs, Kim
