Office Nook

I don’t know about you but I have a TOUGH time working in a disorderly area.

I need it to be cleared before I can start even thinking about being productive.

When the space is neat and orderly, my thoughts tend to follow suit and I am much more focused.

AND I THEN ENJOY THE WORK PROCESS SO MUCH MORE.

Here is my little office nook BEFORE.
YIKES!

I kinda let this get a little scattered, didn’t I?

The ‘wimpy kid’ books below are not my reading choice so why are they on MY DESK?

oh yeah, I forgot, I have kids so their stuff is found in various locations throughout the house –
sound
familiar?

home 106
oh goodness –
the cords stretching across the wall are making me a little nauseous.

Too much color going on too!

my nightstand was right next to my desk…

so my reading material was spilling over into my ‘office’ area.
I can’t actually physically read more than one book at a time so I ask myself why are they all sitting there at the ready and just bugging me?

NEED. TO. CLEAR!!

ok…here we go…

I love this little screen with a little vintage metal fencing built on where I can tuck notes and pictures.

ahhhhhh…

separated commonly used items in little drawers at my fingertips….post its, clips, etc

my trusty vintage muffin tin to hold the small supplies – YUM

I’ve also incorporated an OLD METAL drawer…
check out that cute little handle on the top!

The drawer has little built in divider that when the drawer is upended become shelves with some baskets added to contain the little cluttery bits of an office.

A cleared space…

SO MUCH BETTER

SO MUCH CALMER

notice no plugs showing and the little skirt under the desk hides all the wires and modems, etc, etc.

Across the room I have a shelving unit that holds files and the bigger equipment as well as some old metal filing drawers that hold the surplus supplies.

LOVE the industrial edge this gives to the storage of these items.
Next on the to do list is to further organize and rearrange this area

I love the idea of repurposing a drawer as a shelf. Great idea! I also had to get my office back together after the Holidays and now I feel like working.
