flirty ruffled apron TUTORIAL

You all probably know how much I adore my aprons!

I decided to whip up a version of my own using some of my fabric stash…

and came up with

this:

Here’s how:

** Gather some fabrics that go together but
don’t MATCH exactly.

{I personally think the end result is
MORE FUN
when you mix it up!}

* Select your base lining size (mine was leftover cotton from another project)

* Cut rectangles of the 3 ruffle fabrics 
(1 1/2 times as wide as your lining piece) 

* Hem 3 sides of each of these
(one long side and the two short sides)

* Gather the top side of each of these ruffle pieces

* Pin the bottom ruffle piece to the bottom of the lining piece

* Sew that bottom ruffle on with a topstitch

* Determine where you want your second ruffle to be attached so that it overlaps the top of the bottom ruffle a bit

* Pin and Sew it On

* Same for your top ruffle piece

* Cut three long pieces of fabric for your waistband and each apron string

* Press each apron string in half the long way to make a long tube

*Sew along the long side and one end and turn right side out

*Sew the apron strings to the SIDE of your top layer piece

* Press your waistband piece wrong sides together (turn the long edges under 1/4 inch & press for a built in hem)

* Place this over the top of your top ruffle layer and over the apron string connections

* Topstitch in place

Now put on your apron, feel super cute and domestic, go make a cake, and flirt with your hubby!

{He’ll now officially think aprons are HOT!! }
