Just a bit of warning as you prepare these….

When you make these bars, you MUST have a jug of milk on hand.  Very rich & decadent…very yummy indeed!!

 Here’s the lo-down:

1) You start off making these with your favorite brownie recipe.  Go ahead, use a box mix…you’ll be doctoring these babies up so make this part easy {unless you want to make from scratch then feel free – I didn’t!}

2) When your brownie timer goes off, top your warm brownies with 1 1/2 cups of mini marshmallows * and pop back in the oven for 3 minutes.

*I also added 1 1/2 cups of these little caramel pellets but you don’t have to if you don’t want or can’t find them… by the way…these are the best invention ever, little kraft baking caramels instead of unwrapping 8 gazillion big caramels for recipes!  You can’t find them everywhere but I grabbed several bags from our local grocery when I saw them.

The marshmallows and caramels will not look melted when you take them out…that’s ok!

{surprisingly the oven light does not produce good photography – ha!}

3) Now take 2 cups chocolate chips (or any combo of baking chips you like), 1 cup peanut butter, 1 tablespoon butter and melt in medium saucepan over low heat until smooth.

4) Add 1 1/2 cups rice crispie cereal and spread this mixture over the brownies.

5) Cool in the fridge for a couple hours to set up and then cut into non-gigantic pieces for nibbling….remember they’re rich and gooey & don’t forget your MILK!

The beauty of these
is that you can add anything YOU want.

Live on the edgeexperiment…Pop in a tsp of vanilla or top with some coconut or ohhhh some m&m’s - that’s a good idea I’ll have to do that {NEXT TIME!!}

Tip:  Use up all those little bags of leftover baking chips from other recipes {I know you have some little bags of chips all twisted up with just a handful left in your pantry, don’t you?}

Most of all – have FUN & enjoy!!

  1. I felt my blood sugar rising just looking at the luscious pics...loved this recipe!

    Since I'm kinda lazy,and it's kinda' hard to cut the pieces the same size for those kids who like to measure fairness, am thinking my mini cupcake pan with cute holiday liners would work for your amazing recipe!

  2. These sound heavenly. On my list! Thank you! :)

  3. These look incredible ~ would be a good fix for a chocoholic like me!!!

  4. Another option is to spread one can of frosting over the cooled brownies and then add crushed roasted peanuts. Then add the peanut butter, chocolate, rice krispie mix. Yummy!
