{Decadent Fudge Bars}

{Northern Cottage} decadent FUDGE BARS

I’ve been workin’ out!!  The workouts have not included long distance runs or lifting weights or aerobic activity.  It been the workout of sewing and sewing and sewing to gear up for and add to my little shop.

{Northern Cottage} - a crate of cozy RAG QUILTS!!

I’ve had some major hand crampage (new word!) from all the cutting and snipping, snipping, snipping going on here on my cozy Rag Quilts

{Northern Cottage} stack of quilts

So….all that working out deserves a treat, don’t you think?  These rich decadent (oh.my.word good!!) bars were just the ticket!!

{Northern Cottage} fudge brownie bar recipe - TO.DIE.FOR!!

They are near perfection in my book!!

Here’s the recipe (in case you also perhaps need a treat from all YOUR not working out!):

DECADENT FUDGE BARS

Start of by making your favorite brownies (box mix or from scratch – I used a family size box mix this time…ummm, pretty much every time shhhh!)

Top Layer Ingredients
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/3 cup milk
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa power
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 box (16 oz.) powdered sugar
handfuls of mini marshmallows

Directions
Scatter about 2 handfuls of marshmallows over brownies while still hot right out of the oven (not covering completely, just scattered).  Melt butter in a large bowl in microwave 30-60 seconds.  Stir in milk, cocoa and vanilla.  Add sugar and beat vigorously until smooth.  Spread evenly over marshmallow layer on still warm brownies.  Let stand on for 30 minutes until slightly warm or (if you can wait this long….cool completely and serve at room temp.)

**I got the recipe from a sweet woman I met through our local junk shoppe (where we both sold some goodies).  She is a treat herself and she makes glorious things (both to eat and home décor!!)**

ENJOY!!

  3. Oh gosh those little quilts are adorable in the 7up crate and the fudge bars!!!! I'm pretending I don't see them right now (losing weight and they won't help at the moment). They'll be perfect at Christmas though! Congrats on your shop darlin'! :)
