A Good Summer Day

This past Saturday was a good day

---------------------

Started off visiting with some of my favorite people

(my sister and her family stayed overnight with us – we always have fun together)

---------------------

We got up and had some breakfast

{made raspberry coffee cake - mmm}

home 035

---------------------

and then

off to a local flea market

where I snagged a few goodies

{a poor broken little windmill}

home 041

{fresh sunflowers}

home 051

{vintage metal molds}

home 053

{vintage canisters}

home 055

{shelf cabinet}

home 064

a
{towel bar}
that will be refreshed

home 077

---------------------

Afterwards, I got a lot of organizing done

around the house,

---------------------

I also got to play in the garden

came home for a quick, easy but entirely

Lots of little home projects

We’ve been feathering our

home 059

we installed one of these

rain barrels

home 010

and we installed a french drain

instead of the gutters releasing all the rainwater onto our yard, it is now diverted to the back of our property

(this involved a very long trench that we’ve now backfilled and replanted grass seed)

home 011

and I’ve also been weeding and fluffing in the garden beds

home 012

the deer have eaten a lot of my hostas (this makes me sad!)

home 013

so all these little projects have determined that we haven’t been relaxing in these lately -

home 009

but we have enjoyed the fruits of our labor a little bit…

I adored the lilacs when they were in bloom

home 023home 024

Aren’t these just yummy?

Falling Behind

Is the new summer schedule affecting you as well??

I am not able to keep up with things..

I’m behind on:

* drafting posts
* reviewing my favorite blogs (google reader has 330 unread – just for this week - yikes!)
* making comments on my fav posts of YOURS! (I’m sorry!)

However – I AM

* making yummy treats & blanket forts with my kids,
* keeping up with my running (ugh!), and
* planting lots & lots container flowers.

oh yeah & I
WORK
(that soooo gets in the way of the stuff I WANT to do!)

So I think I might be giving into it just a little
I probably WON’T be able to keep up with everything

but you know what?

that’s

OKAY!!

I’m taking care of the more important things and the most important moments the best I can!

home 003

Savor the MOMENTS!!

p.s. – BUT…if you guys see that I’ve won some FABULOUS giveaway or there’s a post out there that you think I MUST see – please let me know!  wink :)

Spring Porch & Potting

I’m taking advantage of the warm{er} weather…it’s a balmy 50 degrees here today.  Yes, sadly, that is warm for us!

I decided to clear off the porch

sweep ‘er off

&

scrub ‘er down

and freshen up the potting table

in anticipation of spring flowers coming soon!

The result of that effort:

It reminds me of a

home 011

under the potting bench I have a couple big metal tubs that hold potting soil, etc.  love em!

home 014

Inside my little potting shed, I’ve set up an old farm table and adding some shelving…it’s so fun to pot plants here

I’ll show you this later as it is completed and filled in..

home 025

It’s been a busy couple of days…

I also planted my 1st ROWS of anything…

two rows of raspberry bushes

that will produce fruit (hopefully) next year

I’M SO EXCITED
for these to take off!

home 020

soon this trellis will be COVERED with morning glory vines

(too cold here still to leave them outside so they’ve not yet been planted in their home!)
